dental assisting school

The Dental Assisting Program is designed to prepare students to function competently in entry-level positions in a dental office setting.

In general, Dental Assistants possess a wide span of skills that range from prepping for oral examinations to basic administrative duties.

In the front office, they may schedule and confirm appointments, welcome patients, send bills, process payments, and inventory supplies. During examinations and treatments, they provide patients with dental healthcare.

Clinical duties include preparing instrument trays, handing required instruments to the dentist or doctor during a teeth exam or mouth exam, and using suction or other instruments to keep the patient’s mouth clear.

Some Dental Assistants make dental impressions, remove sutures, assist with dental x-rays, apply anesthetics to gums, and administer cavity preventatives to teeth.

As a rule, Dental Assistants work well with others, have good manual dexterity, and perform as reliable dental professionals.
